Yacht Money, penned their name after being inspired by Leo DiCaprio’s character in the legendary movie, Wolf of Wall-Street. They honed their beat making skills in Atlanta and moved to Nashville in 2016 to add songwriting into their production house. They slipped into the Nashvegas scene with their “Neon Outlaw” sound. YM wrote, produced, and guested on the Sam Tinnesz dark and brooding hit “Play with Fire” -streaming over 100million. They also wrote the quirky lead single, “Crush” with the artist Tessa Violet- streaming over 150million.
YM has a hunger for finding fresh musical artistry and throwing their unapologetic southern souls into whatever they make together. “We meet with new artists almost every week from different genres-so we are working on 15 songs at all times. Some songs stick to an artist and some are more personal to you.” says the duo. “We wanted to release our own music and tell our story.”
It made perfect sense when they met a fresh new powerhouse country artist named, Gabrielle Mooney, in late 2018-who features on the new YM single, “Fire Love”. “Gabrielle has country roots and we grew up on a steady diet of ATL trap and R&B. We wanted to know what it would sound like if we mashed up some spaghetti western guitars with some 808’s and then take that and put it in a blender with Johnny Cash’s face on it. Oh yeah and garnish that with a hawk scream sound too! What pours out is a high proof cocktail of burnin’ bedroom heat and smoke sung by each of one of us. This thing sounds like a Tarantino movie.”-smiles the duo with their strong southern drawl. Stream “Fire Love” on all available platforms NOW.
